It's been a while....I know [23 Jul 2007|01:32pm]
[ mood | content ]

I read everyone's entries, so I don't know why I don't post more!
Right now, life is pretty busy. I just got back from a weekend in Louisiana with family. It was a great time.
Back in Decemeber, I found a small lump. The doctor said it was a brothlin (not sure how you spell it) cyst and gave me medicine. Apparently, they are pretty common-it's just a duct in the body that gets clogged and then cometimes infected. The medicine helped a little, but the cyst grew back even bigger. The infection spread to sweat glands, and I had to get it cut, which hurt like HELL because if you have an infection, numbing medicine does NOT work. So, they left it open to drain because closing it would allow it to form another cyst. They tested the cyst, and everything was fine. Then, here we are five months later, and it's still draining randomly! That's ridiculous.
So, I went back, and they tested it again. The cut is fine, but now I have a drug-resistant staph infection. So, we are playing the drug game---trying to find a medicine to kill the staph infection. UGH! It's annoying, and it makes me really feel for those who have to deal with a lot of medicine all the time.
Other than that, life is great. I'm going back to school in the fall. I'll be super busy because I'm still teaching, coaching, and babysitting! I'm going to Texas Woman's University for a masters in library science. I will still teach for a long time, but I want other options.

remember me? [31 Dec 2006|04:22pm]
I know I never post in here. I forget, but usually it's because there is not much to say! :)
Life is busy but pretty boring. I'm hoping 2007 will change all that. It's nice to start a new year, fresh and clean, full of opportunities. :) Who knows what will happen, and that's an exciting thing.

I've ventured on to myspace. Look me up if you are on there!

I am bored, and I am not letting myself go out and spend money. So, I'm doing stupid stuff like this. Thankfully, I have plans the rest of the week.
Tomorrow I'm going to the pool with work friends.
Wednesday, I'm going to Brenham to see Jessica.
Thursday and Friday I am hanging out with my family and then babysitting.
Life in the summer is great.
BUT, they are changing what we are teaching next year, so I have NO CLUE what I'm doing. I've got to get to work and figure it all out! PLus, I've been babysitting TOO much, so I haven't had much time to just do nothing. Today was nice.

(Click here to post your own answers for this meme.)

I miss somebody right now. × I don't watch much TV these days. I own lots of books.
I wear glasses or contact lenses. × I love to play video games. × I've tried marijuana.
× I've watched porn movies. × I have been the psycho-ex in a past relationship. I believe honesty is usually the best policy.
I curse sometimes.  (It's not often, but when I do, it's bad!) I have changed a lot mentally over the last year. × I carry my knife/razor everywhere with me.
it goes on... )

Life has been nice but pretty boring!! I'm too broke to go out and get a life! :)
Summer school ends Thursday. I really need the money, so this extra 2275 dollars will be nice. Thank God for providing. I've also met a few new families to babysit for, so I've been busy doing that after summer school. Yeah, I REALLY need a social life! :)

My mom teaches workshops around the country for teachers. I sometimes go with her. She had to do one on Monday, so we went up very early on Saturday. We toured around all day Saturday and then Sunday.
Yeah...I want to move there. That's about all I have to say on that! :)

I have a 165 students. Isn't that a lot to keep up with---parents, phone calls, behavior, what skills they lack, how do they learn, how do they respond to discipline. That's a lot to keep up with for 165 kids. I guess I should be thankful---it was 170 a few weeks ago. I lost 8 and then gained three this week. Tuesday was our big writing test for the state. It went well, so I think they'll do fine when the results come in.
I paid off my car, which was a wonderful feeling...now to get some other stuff paid off!

Tax Refund [08 Feb 2006|07:11pm]
YAY! I'm getting back 1500 back, which means I can pay off my car and put a chunk on my credit card. I am so excited to have one thing paid off. Plus, a few of my school loans are going to be finished in 2008, so I can finally see the light (barely) at the end of this tunnel.

Karen Kingsbury [29 Jan 2006|10:13am]
Dawn and I met her yesterday. She was so nice. She stood up to meet each person and spent a few minutes with each person, taking pictures and writing personal notes on the book. She hugged everyone, and I just think she's fabulous. I appreciate her fiction more now that I know she's such a great person. :)
Dee Henderson finally put out another book. She emails her fans so often and asks us to write back, so I need to email her and tell her that her book rocked and IT HAS TO BE THE START OF A NEW SERIES!
And those are my thoughts. I'm off to church. I've been babysitting on Sundays because the Figueroas have been going out to watch the Steelers, so I've made awesome money (Thanks, Jesus, because I am so broke and the bills are there this month!). But, I've missed going to church.

Merry Christmas [25 Dec 2005|06:55pm]
Merry Christmas, Everyone!
Thanks for the card, Lori. It made my day. I do need to update this more often. To be honest, there is not a whole lot to say. Life has been busy but nothing special. I'm happy and content where God has me although that is sometimes a struggle.

You Are a Feminine Beauty!

You make any guy feel like a man, simply by standing next to him
You have a classic womanly appeal - and you've got a look for every occasion
This doesn't mean that you can't kick back in (designer) jeans and sneakers
You just prefer to be girly and sweet as often as possible

You know you've been a super good girl this year
So good, that you may have missed out a little...

You Are Most Like Charlotte!

You are the ultimate romantic idealist
You've been hurt before, but that hasn't caused you to give up on love.
If anything, your resolve to fall in love is stronger than ever.
And it's this feminine optimism that men find most appealing about you.

Romantic prediction: That guy you are seeing (or crushing on)?

Could be very serious - if you play your cards right!

hi [29 Nov 2005|08:49pm]
Well, I guess I'm averaging one post a month. That's not too bad. If I had a better printer, I would post in here more so that I could print it out. My printer is just finiky. Is that a word?
Life has been good. I met a new guy named Josh. Even if nothing develops, I am proud of myself for making the step to go on a date with someone...it had been six years since my last "first" date since I dated Brian almost 6 years!! It's funny because Brian has been calling a lot since Josh and I started talking. We keep in touch as friends, but he's been calling a lot. It's like he can tell I'm moving on. Josh is nice, funny, a strong Christian (which is what Brian used to be but quit going to church, etc), settled. The only thing is that he's taller than me but not much! I am anxious to see what God is going to do. I'm just proud of myself for taking that step.

Long time, no see [16 Nov 2005|07:50pm]
There's been drama at school. A kid got kicked out yesterday for having a plan to bring a gun and kill several people. He and another girl were exchanging plans. She was to bring the gun. Thankfully, they caught him the day before it was to happen.
What's worse is that it was all supposed to happen today, yet two principals were out. Don't you think they should have been there just incase something else happened? It's drama. THey didn't even email everyone to give them a heads up. THey called the parents of the kids on his list to let them know, but that was it.
Then a teacher found a pen where they took out the ink and put in a blade.
I think something bad is going to have to happen at our school before they wake up and start running this school like a military academy or something to keep these kids safe. They keep their heads in the sand and just hope nothing happens. We all just have a bad gut feeling something bad will happen. I'm just praying!!
I met a new guy named Josh. I am starting to like him, and I'm nervous yet excited about that. We'll see.

Beth Moore [18 Oct 2005|09:48pm]
If you haven't checked Beth Moore out, you need to. I'm attending her Bible Study on the Patriarchs, and it's stretching me, convicting me, teaching me, and helping me to grow so much spiritually. It's awesome. I should post some things I've learned, but I'm too stretched right now.
Plus, that woman dresses so cute every Tuesday night. It's crazy!
I'm getting her other books. She announced tonight that our spring BS will be over the tabernacle. She did it ten years ago and is redoing it. I'm excited because I love the tabernacle and how it is a picture of what Jesus is.

You are a narrative writer. Usually a writer of
stories rather than poetry, you grew up reading
Shakespeare's less popular and heard of
plays--like King Lear or the Henry series. Your
writing contains a certain order and
organization--be it chronological or otherwise.
If you are to write poetry, it has to convey a
logical (or perhaps unreal) story with some
sort of order behind it.

What's YOUR Writing Style?

Interesting since I teach writing...mostly narrative writing. I like to write stories. I feel I don't have much "deep" stuff to share. I keep those thoughts in my head instead of sharing them.

Hurricane Rita [22 Sep 2005|08:43pm]
Well, God works all things out. We headed out of town, me in my car and my sister and her family in their SUV. We were diverted to another road...my car was the first they diverted. My dad had to work today, so my mom was going to wait for him. One the road, people were just sitting on their cars on this road, so we prayed and decided to go home. My brother-in-law had already burned 1/4 tank of gas, and we had only been on the road 25 miles (almost 4 hours though)! Then the reports kept saying it was moving east, which is where we were heading. It moved east more, so I think we'll be okay at my mom's house. I came home to get a good night's sleep before it hits tomorrow night.
I'm now worried about my grandmother in Morgan City, which is one of the mandatory evacuation places now....no one can get a hold of her

Hey, long time, no update.

I guess that's the norm. I do write in my regular journal fairly often, but hey, I can take that one around wherever I go.
Life is busy but good. Volleyball adds a lot to my week. Plus, Beth Moore's Bible Study started up again. This time it is on the Patriarchs. I am really enjoying it. I love her, and I learn a lot from her. I think I'll get the videos and books for her other Bible Studies although I don't know if I'll enjoy that as much since I've been going to her live Bible Studies!
Thankfully, no one in my family was affected by Hurricane Katrina. They were all fine, and their houses were fine. They had no electricity, but that's no big deal in comparison.
We've gotten ten kids at school from Louisiana. I haven't gotten any though.
I think that's all I'll ramble about for now!

compliment [27 Aug 2005|01:31pm]
I ran into a former student and her mom today at Wal-Mart. She came and gave me a hug. Her mom said,"Oh, this is the teacher you were talking about this morning." Her mom told me that Courtney had told her just this morning how she missed me as her English teacher now that she's in 8th grade. She made my day.
In diet news, I had gained a few pounds and was stuck there, but this morning, I was back down to 14 pounds lost. I feel like I've lost again since I was up those pounds for like 1 1/2 weeks.

Hey, hey, hey,
It's that time of year again! School is back in session. Instead of 5 classes, I teach 6, which means I have even more students, which means even more papers to grade, parents to call, and kids to keep up with. I'm also coaching volleyball, which is fun since Darlene is the head coach. It's also good money.
I started the South Beach Diet a few weeks ago. I'm down 14 pounds and feeling great!! I don't even feel like I'm on a diet. My sister and parents are on it too. I've even gotten a few friends started on it, which is encouraging. I want to get back to the weight I was in high school/freshman year of college. I had lost a few before I started SB, so I've lost a total of 19 pounds.
Other than school starting, life has been good but not much excitment.
